What is the Millennium Fellowship?

The Millennium Fellowship is a campus-based program that equips students with leadership skills, connects them with a network of like-minded changemakers, and empowers them to take action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From August to December 2025, selected students will work in campus hubs of 8–20+ Fellows, collaborating on projects that make measurable contributions to their communities.

Participants will Convene, Challenge, and Celebrate through structured sessions and collective actions, ultimately earning a certificate of recognition from UNAI and MCN upon successful completion of their projects.

How Does It Work?

Step 1: Apply and Plan Your Project

To apply for the Fellowship, submit a project proposal aligned with at least one SDG and one UNAI principle. Projects should be time-bound and actionable, spanning areas such as:

  • Leading a campus organization advancing UN goals.
  • Writing a campus newspaper series on SDGs.
  • Launching a social enterprise.
  • Conducting impactful research on sustainability.
  • Organizing campus-wide initiatives like sustainability plans.

You can also apply to become one of two Campus Directors, taking on leadership for your campus hub and guiding your peers throughout the program.

Step 2: Convene, Challenge, and Celebrate

Over eight Fellowship sessions, Fellows will engage in the MCN Action Toolkit, a curriculum designed to:

  • Build core values like empathy, humility, and inclusion.
  • Hone practical skills such as budgeting and goal-setting.
  • Develop leadership soft skills, including team management and pitching.

Peer-to-peer feedback and collaboration are at the heart of the program, ensuring Fellows grow as leaders while creating tangible social impact. Successful participants will be recognized with a Millennium Fellowship Project Certificate.

Step 3: Join a Global Alumni Network

Upon completing the program, Fellows become part of the vibrant MCN alumni community, which includes over 11,000 changemakers from 300+ universities across 50+ countries. Alumni continue to drive social impact through careers, mentorship, and campus initiatives.

Notably, 87% of Fellowship alumni report working in social impact careers, making this program a launchpad for future leaders.
